The Stillness of Winter

One of the beautiful things I learned from my time living in Ireland was about the Celtic Calander.  The Celts believed winter was the time for stillness & quiet.  That's what I love about this time of year.

I find many people have trouble being still though.  We've been taught to do, do, do & be busy that's it quite challenging for some to just Be.  I find when I just Be, I am so much more appreciative too.

I think the song on my website Hallelujahs captures how beautiful appreciation and being still enough to notice the joys of Creation is for the soul.  Here's the link - hope you enjoy. http://www.michellebailly.com/pagex.asp?bioid=32769

Own Who You Are

I heard a great suggestion the other night, "If you totally own who you are, no one can use you against you."  I thought this was quite wise don't you?  I mean all the times I have used myself against myself instead of being clear & staying true to who I am.

I think that's the challenge with anyone who decides to 'put themselves out there' in any way.  I've discovered there are lot's of people who are quick to give me advise as to how I should have done it or it should be done, but what I've noticed is very few of them ever put themselves out there themselves.  So best to stick to my own inner voice me thinks & totally own who I am.

A Little Help From My Friends

Now I know why I do what I do - it's such a beautiful way to build community.  Music that is.  It opens our hearts & connects us to that place where we are all the same.

I am so appreciative of all the well wishes I've been receiving & will sing a song to all of you on Monday night as I hold you in my heart & thoughts.

Ever Wonder Why....?

After a few more sleepless nights, I ask myself the question, why do I put myself through this?  Do you know what I'm talking about?  Those times when we have hoped & prayed for something and then when it actually happens, you go "Oh My God!!!" it's really happening.

Here I am about to perform in front of 450 people in a top notch facility, with an amazing band, speaking & singing about what I love but still there is this.....can I do it?!

I was very heartened to see a documentary on Jann Arden the other night & how she went through many of the same types of states as I've been experiencing.  I think what she said when she came off the stage, really highlighted how silly these types of concerns can be when she said, "Well nobody died".

It's amazing how the ego & the stories of the mind try to make things appear more important or 'high drama' than they need to be.  Life truly is a learning experience and so what I'm reminding myself is to enjoy & what's the worst that can happen?  I make a mistake.....I've made lot's of those before & that's all just part of the enjoyable journey.

So here's to allowing ourselves to make mistakes.....and simply to sing because we enjoy it and because we can!

Building Sustainable Communities Concert

Had the first rehearsal with the amazing musicians playing with me at the Building Sustainable Communities concert this Monday the 15th.  And they are truly some of the best in the valley!  I am so excited about having you all join us.  There are still a few more tickets left, so let me know if you need one.  There's also more information under Events on my site.  Should be a lot of fun and it's for a very worthwhile purpose, so hope you can join us.
